From the University of Miami to Detroit

What's up everybody? This is Phillip Buchanon of the Detroit Lions. I'm one of the newest members of the Yardbarker Community. This is my first year as a member of lions after spending the previous years with the Raiders, Texans, and most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I just finished my first week up here in Detroit. I must say, it's quite different from Tampa, it's already warm there. Can somebody let me know when it is going to get warmer? I am looking forward to a great season with the Lions and meeting some new fans.... Since I am new to the area of Detroit, I am hoping some Lion fans can help me with some suggestions on restaurants and some chill places.... Hit me up and let me know. I will be uploading some new pictures soon and letting the fans know about my transition to Detroit.

What the hell made u sign with the Lions? U still have talent but a CB isnt going to turn around a team. U better puch for Cutler. Then some D in the draft n a Oline

Welcome Phillip. I can't help you with the Detroit weather but I'm guessing you might have to revamp the wardrobe! It's definitely not Florida. I will tell you that it's nice and sunny here in the Bay. Remember the Cali sunshine? LOL

It's all about the U baby!!! glad to see you doing good. Florida and Michigan are completely different, I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and I've to Michigan and it's a big difference, it might ever get hot.

Check out Birmingham for some decent places to eat. The Mosaic near Greektown is a great place as well. I feel for you man, Detroit sucks. I would take a pay cut to move somewhere else.

It is probably never going to be the same weather as in the south. It's best to invest in some warm clothes for the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. Trust. Learn how to stay warm and the weather won't be as bad.

Whats up Phillp! I've lived in Detroit my entire life. An awesome place to grab a nice dinner is Coach Insignia at the top of the Ren Center building (General Motors Headquarters). It's great food and an awesome view since the entire building is all glass and it's on the 86th floor. You get a good view of Detroit or Canada.

Welcome my man. I am no from Detroit but I really respect you going there because I like what they have done this off-season and look at the Dolphins they had the number one pick in 2008 and the year later they went to the playoffs. As a lifelong Michigan resident, the weather could get warmer next week and then dip back below zero. lol. Depends on your definition of warm as well though. It will loom between 40 & 60 for most of March and April and May will be like 50's and 60's and could hit 70. In the summer it will be anywhere from 60 to 90. Take your pick. But as they say in Michigan if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change, for better or worse. Welcome to the Lions, not my favorite team but it's the home team. I wish you all luck this year and some wins this season.

What's up number 31! I'm in Miami and a huge Cane's fan and a fan of any player from the "U" in the NFL. Wish you were down here with the Dolphins. Glad to see you in the yard.

  I Love Florida.... the Dolphins never gave me the time of the day... the time that i spent in Houston(Texans) was the worst thing to happen to me in my NFL career but at the same time i learned alot... their was no direction in Houston(Texans) when i was their.... the Dolphins still had that same out look on me as if i were still playing for the Texans... the NFL is a crazy business... I'm a Florida boy.... so you no I love Florida... thanks

Hey Phil, I have been a huge fan of yours for the last 2 years when you were playing for the Bucs. Why did you have to leave Tampa for Detroit? We miss you in Tampa, should have resigned. I still wish you luck with the lions though...

As a lifelong Lions fan I want to tell you how happy we are to have you here. For as long as I can remember our defensive backfield has been atrocious. It seems like they were always undermanned and overlooked when it came time to draft or utilize free agency, at least in the Millen era. It's up to you to turn it all around, best of luck.

I don't Know much about detroit since Im from western PA and Im an avid steeler fan......... and I hate the red wings but I hope the lions do good next year and I think you guys have a good chance. the NFC north based on the last few years is a very weak division. Anyone could win it at this point.

All haters of the "D"... Glad to see you in Detroit my man! Ann Arbor, Toledo, Cannada, and many locations in and around Detroit have nothing but great places to eat. The weather usually starts to get warm by mid May. What is nice is the night life around the town. Tons of bars to choose from, depends on what your into. Google some questions about the "D" and you will get many answers. Put the D back in the "D" my man...

Just wanted to add Phill, tell those retards running the Lions to be smart and take Aaron Curry, because he is a beast and I havent heard good things said so much about a player since Calvin Johnson. We all know how he worked out... STUD!!!!!! This year is easy, Curry for sure, give you boys in the secondary some help. Nobody can gaurd a wide out for 20 seconds...
